Had a fun (and expensive) weekend. My “Mini Me” turned 14 today. We celebrated by having dinner at The Melting Pot in Raleigh on Saturday night. I forgot how damned expensive the place is, dinner for four was $300+. Well, it was worth it. We all had a fun tine cooking our own meals.
Today, Colin received his Boy Scout Star rank and was sung to twice by the troop. Twice the embarrassment 😜
All in all, a good weekend.
Obviously, I do not take my blogging very seriously. It has been over a year since I posted anything on my site. Life just seems to get into the way.
So, what happened in 2017 that was of any consequence? Not much. Work was a major struggle all year, more demand than supply of parts. All year long… Led to many more gray hairs on my face, but we survived, and had a very profitable year. Now let’s just hope the profit sharing plan pays out well.
My baby girl turned 16 this year. Unbelievable. Time is just flying by.
Donald Trump is still President. Thats all I want to say about that. 🙁
On the bright side, I just got a new car just after Christmas, an AWD 2017 Honda Pilot, and it has come in great as we have already had two snow events in January.
I spent all of last week with the flu, then bronchitis, so I am not really looking foreward to going back tomorrow. Still feeling very weak, but life must go on.
To be continued…
I’m not sure how it is for anyone else, but this year has sucked for me so far. None stop issues at work and terrible weather.
We in the South do not handle snow very well. We got about 1.5″ here, luckily far from the predicted 6″-8″, but as we don’t have an abundance of snow plows in NC, it has been a challenge to get around.
I had to work on Sunday, and this was how the roads looked atound 7am:
Now that there was some melting and re-freezing of the snow yesterday, and the roads were just sheets of ice this morning;
But being the dedicated employee I am, I have braved the elements and gone in to work. By Friday, the temperature is expected to reach 70f. Crazy weather here in NC.
Oh well, time for bed, so I can get up early and drive on ice again in the morning.
I love my job, I love my job…
Last year I tried doing a photo every day challenge, and I failed miserably. This year, I just hope to post here occasionally.
2016 came and went in record speed. We saw many famous people pass away, we saw the continued religious wars around the world, and we saw the election of Donald Trump. The world is a strange and dangerous place, and I just hope it doesn’t spiral out of control. I am not a fan of Trump, but I do believe he deserves a chance now as he won the vote.
As for now, I hope 2017 will be a good year for all of us. I have certain personal goals that I will keep to myself, but I will remain cautiously optimistic about the upcoming year.
Special Birthday wishes to my son. He turned 12 today. I cannot believe how quickly my kids are growing up.
Our winter blast is over. Power was lost and found again. The snow is melting, but the black ice will appear overnight. I guess it could be worse, we could live in the North East…
Anyway, a snap from my iPhone 6 – still amazed at the photo quality you can get from a phone these days.
The winter storm has descended upon the Carolina’s. Lots of ice with a layer of snow on top of it. Unfortunately, the Birch tree in the front yard didn’t fair very well. It will be interesting to see how lopsided it is in the Spring…
So far no snow, just sleet and freezing rain. Keeping my fingers crossed that the power stays on.
I took this yesterday, and tried to upload it using the WordPress App, but the app sucks!
The calm before the Storm..
